Basit Afaq Mir
I earned my Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering for Sustainability from Politecnico di Milano in 2022, after starting my career as a civil engineering trainee in India. I later gained experience in sustainable engineering and environmental assessment through my thesis work at the MAT4EN2 lab and subsequently worked as a Research Specialist in Vienna, specializing in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). In 2023, I joined KAUST as a PhD student, where my research focuses on embodied carbon and Life Cycle Assessment of buildings. I integrate Building Information Modeling (BIM), energy modeling, and LCA to develop embodied carbon benchmark values that support sustainable construction and contribute to national net-zero goals.
