Shu-An Lee World Sustainable Built Environment Conference 2026

Shu-An Lee

Dr. Shu-An Lee is a professor and currently serves as a chair in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Science at Feng Chia University. His research focuses on environmental microbiology, bioaerosols, air quality, and environmental exposure assessment, with particular emphasis on the detection and control of airborne microorganisms, particulate pollutants, and chemical pollutants. Prof. Lee’s work integrates environmental monitoring techniques, molecular biological methods, and risk assessment approaches to better understand microbial exposure in indoor and outdoor environments. Prof. Lee has made significant contributions to the field of respiratory protection, particularly in evaluating the performance of respirators and filtration systems against bioaerosols and airborne particles. In recognition of his research achievements in respiratory protection, he received the John M. White Respiratory Protection Award twice from the American Industrial Hygiene Association, in 2006 and 2010. He has also contributed extensively to research on bioaerosol sampling and analysis, viable microorganism detection methods, and the environmental transmission of pathogens. His studies address issues related to environmental health, occupational exposure, and sustainable environmental management. In addition to his research activities, Prof. Lee is actively involved in academic service, research project evaluation, and the training of graduate students in environmental engineering and science. His work aims to bridge scientific research with practical environmental management and public health protection.
