CIC-Zero Carbon Park (CIC-ZCP) is more than a showcase of green building technologies. CIC-ZCP is a living classroom where the seeds of sustainability are planted and cultivated in young minds. As Hong Kong’s flagship hub for sustainable construction and innovation, CIC-ZCP transforms its green environment into an experiential learning ground through signature initiatives such as the ZCP Green Heroes Award Badges Programme and the first construction-themed STEAM Lab.
Since 2021, the CIC-ZCP Green Heroes Award Badges Programme has engaged around 4,500 students in over 400 accredited activities. Through interactive workshops, eco-tours, and hands-on experiences themed around Green Living, Sustainable Development, Recycling and upcycling, the programme cultivates everyday low-carbon habits.
Parent testimonials highlight the programme’s impact on behaviour and mindset. Through immersive experiences such as marine conservation workshops and biodiversity tours, students developed sustainable habits like waste reduction, upcycling, and choosing low-carbon lifestyles. These real-world activities not only deepened their environmental awareness but also inspired lasting lifestyle changes within families.
Extending the Green Heroes journey, the STEAM Lab welcomes both primary and secondary students into an interactive environment designed to blend sustainability with science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. The STEAM Lab features four themed zones that showcase construction technologies and low-carbon materials.
Students role-play as industry professionals such as surveyors, architects, and engineers, explore innovative eco-friendly materials like eggshell bricks and apple leather, and engage with digital technologies including Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Digital Twin. They also operate robotic arms and vehicles in a miniature construction site, applying physics and engineering concepts in a hands-on setting.
In 2024, over 416 tours were conducted, fostering creativity, climate awareness, green construction and problem-solving skills through experiential learning. CIC-ZCP empowers every Green Hero to become a catalyst for change, because the future of our planet begins with what we cultivate today.
