The transition to a Circular Economy (CE) in the built environment requires not only technological innovation but also a fundamental shift in knowledge, skills, and professional practices. Formal education courses offered by higher educational institutions play an integral part in this transition. However, formal education in the CE field is an emerging area, unlike more mature fields such sustainability and environmental management. This paper reflects on the design and delivery of an intensive course on Circular Economy in the Built Environment, aimed at equipping students and professionals with the capabilities to critically engage with CE principles and apply them in practice. The course was developed as part of an Industry focused post-graduate diploma and has been delivered annually since 2022. The course introduces participants to the origins of CE and the latest research shaping the built environment, with a strong focus on embedding circularity practices into design, construction, and material use. This paper explains the evolution of the course since it was first delivered, highlighting its pedagogical approach, integration of research insights, and responsiveness to the evolving demands of industry and the changes being integrated to it currently. By showcasing the course development and outcomes, we contribute to the broader discourse on building capacity for circularity in the built environment and accelerating systemic change. This paper will be of benefit to educators, who aim to develop courses in CE and associated topics, and to industry and policy actors who would like to cater such educational initiatives to cater to specific internal outcomes.
